Nelson Mandela seems to be like a replica of the American political leader Martin Luther King who fought for the end of racial segregation. As quoted by Mandela, “I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities.” He was a transformational leader who uncompromising for rights he fought for in his country South Africa. I believe that he is a transformational leader battled the apartheid of his country and did not stop until he saw results. While Nelson Mandela was attending school and educating himself about Law, Mandela was a strong political leader in the ANC group. His Philosophy was that, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." In addition to that, Nelson said, “I detest racialism, because I regard it as a barbaric thing, whether it comes from a black man or a white man.” These thoughts from Mandela shaped his career of being a lawyer, political activist and a teacher to make a change. He had a strong passion to complete his law degree so that he can educate others about the racial segregation. Mandela raised awareness to encourage people to follow him. Furthermore, he was inspired to open a law firm with one of his partners in the ANC named Tambo. This establishment was the first South African law firm in Johannesburg. He proclaimed, “As an attorney, I could be rather flamboyant in court. I did not act as though I were a black man in a white man’s court, but as if everyone else – white and black – was a guest in my court. When presenting a case, I often made sweeping gestures and used high-flown language…. (and) used unorthodox tactics with witnesses.” He acted as a rational being and fought was what people were entitled to in the court. As I mentioned earlier, he is a transformational leader.
