I was part of a community-generated program that I have been involved in for more than 4 years. I would say seeing myself as a leader involves many skills and qualities such as communication, motivation, organization and passion to benefit a range of small groups in my community.
The first leadership role was engaging in art-based creative activities such as a film festival, storytelling, movement, poetry, and music that was taken to two eastern villages on a Dine (Navajo) reservation and setting up weekly gatherings for community dialogue and sharing skills. I assisted in these community development projects as I led a film festival in a community performance and collaborated with my peers and listened to their ideas for a creative plan.

My community is outgoing, but need inspiration for change, motivational events and capacity building needs. I see the need for inspiration and change in my community as something I can give back. The motivational events would be a cultural and heritage reconnection within themselves in a talent art show of music, painting, weaving and jewelry. Also, the need for understanding sustainability principles is having the community to be educated of fracking, pollution of aquifers and the effects of trash on their lands. As I see the issues and complications, I find myself in an occupation in an environmental major. This occupation can give me the opportunity to make changes in my community, future generations and global
