Leadership Self Study
Leadership is a critical component towards the success of any organization, effective leaders help ensure that everyone works together seamlessly and they are much more likely to achieve the organization 's goals and success. A successful leader will be vital in motivating employees, communicating strategic directions and achieving organizational goals, without a good leader all of the organizations resources are less effective than they could be.

These exercises and further reflection helped me see the connections to my adaptive leadership style at times also. My team at work deals with some complex and adaptive challenges at times, applying standardized and repeated solutions is typically not the best resolution. We are a fast paced work environment with fluid changes, team work is critical, roles are somewhat fluid and substitutions for one another are expected, with limits. I try to keep job descriptions broad-based, allowing for flexibility and team work. I’m typically careful to observe and interpret situations and challenges to make sure I understand the complexities of situation before I intervene, “going to the balcony” is often done and needed.
I think leadership style is much like communication style and I believe that any good leader needs to flex their style to match the situation that they may be faced with. One’s ability to lead can be very important both professionally and for personal relationships, difficult people and situations exist in every workplace, being able to respectfully lead and mediate situations is important to being a successful

Transformational style from the aspects of building relationships with my project team members. Adaptive style of leadership from the aspect of needing to go to the balcony to figure out certain aspects, it was difficult to get up to speed on some of this because two of the other team members were already very knowledgeable on the topic. There was a good balance of leadership and following, while there were similarities with my normal day to day leadership styles the leadership roles and dynamics were different and refreshing. There was some natural leadership within the group due to their knowledge on the subject which led to more of a follower role for me and Megan. This worked out very well and the group team members were great to work
