Characteristics Of A Leader Nurse

Leadership is the ability to organize and motivate others. It is having the capacity to accept responsibility, guide people to the right destination, and overcome problems. Leadership may be either a skill that individuals can learn or a talent. There are people who have the innate ability to lead while others develop their leadership skills through practice and hard work. That is the case of nurses. Leader nurses are made, not born. A leader nurse is someone who can inspires others to perform at their best and work together in pursuit of a common goal, such as enhanced patient care. To become an excellent nurse, I have to possess those characteristics and in addition, during my college years, I have to work on acquiring a set of personal qualities such as integrity, courage, initiative and ability to handle stress, to be able to achieve my goal of being an excellent professional.
To begin with, communicate skillfully is the characteristic most important in my field of study. A nurse has to interact with all kind of people all the time, and the fact that I am a shy person can prevent me from being a successful nurse. By volunteering at different places, such as Single Stop Office and the Foreign Language Lab at the MDC Kendall Campus, and by doing task, such as making phone calls, guiding and assisting students, and passing out flyers, I have been in constant interaction not only with the students, but …show more content…
A leader nurse has to demonstrate self-confidence. Her/him should be able to trust and empower others and understand the importance of a healthy work environment on staff satisfaction and the improvement of patient outcomes. A leader nurse should also be able to recognize the need for both personal and professional development.
