Laziness In The Scarlett Letter

L for Lazy

The dictionary defines lazy as averse or disinclined to work, activity, or exertion. I have a very big tendency to be all of those. Laziness is a very big problem in the world and in society and needs to be fixed. In the book the Scarlett Letter, by Nathaniel Hawthorne, there is a young lady by the name of Hester Prynne. Hester’s husband had left town and Hester had slept with another man. Well this was found out by the whole town when they knew her husband was gone and she ended up pregnant. This was very frowned upon at this time. Hester was put in jail for over a year and she gave birth to her baby in jail. I chose this because in my life, laziness has affected me and my school works in a big volume. There will be assignments given and I refuse to do them in class and end up telling myself I will do it for homework, then end up not doing it at all. After a while this all ends up catching up to me in the long run and gets me in trouble and restrains me from all my personal stuff and extracurricular activities. Another big problem this brings is when I don’t turn them in I get missing assignments and this effects my grades very much. A prime example of when laziness has affected me is, a few weeks ago I had around three or four math assignments in a two day period… well at the time I was totally disgusted with having to do these assignments. I totally blew them off and got extremely lazy and didn’t do them so they were in the grade book as missing. With me being lazy and having them missing the consequence was not good. I got my car and phone taken away, I couldn’t hang out with friends and couldn’t go to the gym. It was an awful time for me and all of my friends. Laziness is a big problem with a lot of people I know. There are people in my family that are very lazy people and it affects them so much in the long
