After 24 years of political turmoil (1910-1934), a new president was elected for Mexico, Lazaro Cardenas. Through important reforms such as the nationalization of the petroleum industry or the construction of schools, he aimed at modernizing the political and economic environment of the nation, extremely poor at the time. His strategy was then extended and improved by his successors for 30 years. However, this shift towards modernity was stopped in the 70’s until the beginning of the 90’s. Indeed, the World economy went into recession in the 70’s. An economic crisis then began in Mexico characterized by several devaluation of the Mexican peso. By 1982, the nation had accumulated a heavy debt and declared it wouldn’t be able to pay it. In addition,
