Analysis Of The Film T. E. Lawrence Of Arabia

The movie, Lawrence of Arabia was considered to be a breakthrough in the film industry for it portrayed T. E. Lawrence’s life in the Arab world and how he influenced the Arabs. This of course was based on true events that occurred from 1916-1918. Despite being a biographical movie, not everything that appeared was truthful. Multiple movie critics stated that certain scenes were over exaggerated, unrealistic, scientifically invalid, and/or plainly made up for entertainment purposes. Before starting with the critical differences that occurred in the movie, I shall briefly go over Lawrence's accomplishments in the Middle East and how he led the Arab rebellion. Referring back to biography.com, Thomas was an Arabic scholar and archeoglist who understood and spoke multiple languages including Arabic. He was sent to Egypt as a liaison officer for the British. He was seen as a great leader to Arabs since he created different strategies for fighting for their independence. E. Lawrence looked almost identical to Lawrence himself. From his golden silky hair to his cerulean eyes. Nonetheless according to npr.org , the actor which was called Peter O'Toole was 1 foot taller than Lawrence who was seen as a minuscule to some. This may seem like an insignificant difference however it is still a difference after all. To conclude, despite the fact that the movie was based on true events it was actually limited. It failed to represent the Arabs as the way they truly were, it scientifically and geographically was inaccurate, and various scenes were for the sake of entertainment. It however didn’t fail to restore Thomas Edward Lawrence’s remarkable legacy and how he endeavored to help the Arabs gain their independence and live freely on their own account. May he rest in
