Lawrence Middle School is a diverse community, pulling students from all areas around Princeton and Trenton. In Lawrence, there are over 40 different languages spoken, showing both the diversity and struggle that this school must face. This student body contains 50% Caucasian students, which is 1% over the national average. African American students at this school makeup 16% of the student body, the same as the national average. The four steps of the reframing process include: describe the problem, identify positive contributions or characteristics, create a better perspective on the students, and finally, act on the new frame (Weiner, 3). Lawrence classrooms are equipped to handle students who suffer from hyperactivity. At orientation, principle Milavsky described the three different types of desks the school provided. There were standing desks, bicycle desks, and balls that the students can sit on. In the classroom I was observing, there was one standing desk in the back corner. Students did not have to stand the entire time since it came with a tall seat. It was seen in one case that a student, using the seat at the standing desk, used the bar at the bottom of the desk to swing his feet back and forth.
