During my undergraduate years I learned that I am much stronger than I believed and not as independent as I had once thought. It took an adjustment period, but I was able to learn to be independent, and that it is perfectly acceptable to admit I need help. At the age of seventeen, I began to work in hopes of becoming financially independent. In reality it simply meant I was able to buy my own clothes, pay any school fees, afford all the college application fees and treat my family and I once in a while. At the age of twenty-three I realized becoming financially independent is nowhere near as easy as I thought at seventeen. The impact of student loans and other financial decisions I made had finally set in, making my decision to apply to law school much more difficult. Following much thought and consideration, I realized I needed to apply to law school. The jobs and the internship I have had all had one thing in common; they constantly reminded me of my dreams. Even though they entailed different work, I was able to help others, perhaps in seemingly small and unimportant tasks but I helped nonetheless. I have always enjoyed helping others and advocating for those who face barriers. Whether the barriers are language related, difficulty speaking up, fear or a need for assistance, I enjoy assisting others overcome those
