Connectors are individuals with far reaching social networks, they have the ability to maintain their networks over years and even decades, they are often successful businessmen or politicians, and play an integral role in the spread of ideas. They can get a piece of information to spread rapidly amongst their network, as the book says, much like the ride of Paul Revere. They seek people out who they are genuinely interested in and want to know, they are also people who can quite easily think of someone that an individual would be better off knowing. Connectors are not about the fast accumulation of people but rather a genuine desire to be connected to people. "Their ability to span many different worlds is a function of something intrinsic to their personality, some combination of curiosity, self-confidence, sociability, and energy." They genuinely want to help others to learn more about those things including helping find deals, choosing the best option, or making them aware of the pros and cons of a purchase. They are passionate about what they talk about and will tell everyone they know if they feel strongly about a subject. In terms of epidemics, they control word-of-mouth epidemics they can divulge a key piece of information that can send an epidemic to it’s tipping point, or they can do they complete opposite. "Mavens are really information brokers, sharing and trading what they
