Law Enforcement Trends, Past, Present And Future Analysis

The criminal justice system is comprised of three sections law enforcement, the courts, and corrections. In this essay, the law enforcement trends, past, present and future will be examined and the budgetary and managerial effects on future trends of the entire criminal justice system will be explored. A philosophy of the past was community policing, this trend brought community partnership, organizational transformation and problem solving to law enforcement. Additionally, a present trend is the term cyber-terrorism, this trend questions the use of cyber-terrorism to influence counter terrorism legislation. Finally, a future trend is building an organizational foundation for the future, this trend examines the need for change in the way law enforcement is organized. Also, the new approach will use social controls as part of the new approach by relying on members of these communities to partner with the police. This approach supports the community policing model but, increases the program with a three stage- process (Weisburd, Davis, Gill, 2015). [Currently, there is an experimental program being conducted in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. The patrol force of the Brooklyn Park, Police Department was given a one day training on the program including community building. The intervention is a three-stage process including; 1) Assets- this stage requires the police to identify the problems, stakeholders, liabilities, and assets 2) Coming together- this stage assembles community stakeholders and police to help community partners to take ownership of local crime problems 3) Taking action- patrol officers will report to project coordinator who will assess and follow implementation of project actions (Weisburd, Davis, Gill,
