Also you don’t have to be the most brainy man out there to be in law enforcement, of course you have to be smart but it’s a more hands on job than a book smart line of work.” Working as an officer can be excited but also very dangerous. Going through there everyday routines still aren’t very routine, out on the streets something new happens everyday and it’s their job to be ready for whatever is coming their way. When I asked Officer Woytanowski about the positive aspects of his job he had much to say, “Being able to help people and keep the community I live in safe is one of the post positive aspects to me. If there are problems in the community I’m able to go physically try and fix it rather than just sit behind a desk. One of the things I’ve been doing lately is getting the drunk people off the road. Of course I don’t necessarily enjoy giving out DUIs, however the people who get behind the wheel under the influence have the power to not only injure or kill themselves but also someone else. In class a lot is learned about the different rankings, necessary education, and the court systems but talking to an officer gives you personal insight on what he has to go through in everyday life. You can hear how actually dangerous their jobs can be rather than just reading it. You can hear how much they want to keep their community safe rather than just hating them for giving you a speeding ticket. They tell you things they enjoy and dislike doing in their line of work and see how much action they actually have to deal with rather than just relying on stereotypes from movies. I have a new found respect for officers, for the ones who actually care and enjoy their line of work to better the community that they work
