The criminal justice system has three distinct components that make it effective and able to deliver its mandate of ensuring that justice is served to the offender and recompense is delivered to the victim. These components are Law enforcement, Adjudication, and Correction. Law enforcement begins with crime detection; usually done by the responsible authorities such as the police force or specialized agencies.
