Laverne Cox's Persuasive Speech

“As humans, we crave acceptance by ourselves and others. But most of us get to a point in our lives where we can no longer lie to ourselves.” - Laverne Cox (azquotes.com, page 2). Cox has used these sentences and her own personal experience of transforming in several oral and persuasive speeches focusing on acceptance and approval of LGBT. She has used her notoriety to become a fierce advocate for trans people, which has become one of her top priorities. She has done a series of interviews, seminars, and appearances to raise awareness for transgenders. Laverne was born on May 29, 1984 and grew up in Mobile, Alabama with her mother and twin brother. Though she was born biologically male, as she grew up she could always sense she was a little different. She has been interviewed on the Wendy Show, Katie Show, Kelly and Michael Show, and many more. She has done photoshoots for TIME Magazine, Entertainment magazine, and A&U Magazine. Laverne Cox was the actually the first transgender woman to ever be on the cover of TIME Magazine.
Finally, Laverne is also writing a memoir. She’s currently writing her story for the world to read, highlighting her roots, the challenging journey through her transition and her rewarding arrival to self-fulfillment. She hopes it will break gender expectations and encourage the trans nation.
Laverne has become a major icon in the trans movement and has done several works throughout her career. She will never give up on what she believes in which is living more authentically rather than fitting into pre-defined gender roles. She has only been in the entertainment world for a short time but has already made a profound impact on our society. As time passes and she continues on her success path, I can only imagine what other greatness is coming her
