LaVaughn’s mom, Jolly, and Jeremy have had the biggest influence on who LaVaughn is. In fact, LaVaughn’s mom had a big influence on LaVaughn because she was the one who pushed LaVaughn to be successful in life. LaVaughn was the person to bring up the word college, and LaVaughn’s mom pushed LaVaughn to get good grades in school and not miss a single day. This is so that LaVaughn can get to go to college and live a happy life. LaVaughn’s mom wants LaVaughn to be the first person in their family and in their apartment to ever go to college. LaVaughn also gets a babysitting job so she can help pay for college. Additionally, Jolly has also had a big influence on LaVaughn by showing LaVaughn how she has to work hard to get what she wants. Her life is really hard. This taught LaVaughn to work harder so she doesn’t end up like Jolly. Jolly also helped LaVaughn see the good things in life. When LaVaughn doubted that the millionaire would give Jolly money, Jolly actually got money. Also when Jolly was stuck with her math homework, she laughed it off which surprised LaVaughn. Furthermore, Jeremy helped LaVaughn make life fun. When LaVaughn brings Jeremy outside to go shopping, he goes to the shoe store and says he is the king. Whenever they ride the bus, Jeremy always talks to someone. Jeremy also makes LaVaughn feel determined. Since Jeremy is still a toddler, LaVaughn is determined to teach him everything he needs to know such as counting numbers.
