All I wanted to do was enjoy my day on a Freshman retreat to Camp Tekawitha. On a hot day I got back from my retreat around 5:10. Jaclyn and I talked to our coach two days before the retreat and told her that we would be getting back around 5:00 and probably won't be able to make it to practice. We told our coach around 5:00 because our teachers didn't know exactly what time we would be getting back to school. Since practice was over at 5:30, Jaclyn and I thought it wouldn't be necessary to go to practice.…

I was just a quiet freshman in high school. My father sat down with my family and told us that we were about to move to Texas. I was both shocked and a little excited to move because I’ve always wanted to go south.…

To something some may consider as California's "best kept secret." The Lava Beds National Monument, is one of the most visited national monuments in America. It attracts only one hundred thirty thousand visitors each year but the "secret" underground caves and volcanic rock of the park is full of thrilling sights and history.…

Growing up in Southern California we spent most of our summers at Lake Havasu and Parker. For as long as I can remember, getting to spend my summers on the lake with my close friends and family was what got me through the school year, knowing that for a full month I would have no cares in the world except for what adventures lay ahead of us. As the school year came to an end, all we could think about was getting to the lake to start our last summer together before we all ventured off in separate directions. Starting to pack and load up the RV was all I could think about for days, seeing as this was the last summer we would all spend together.…

It was an eight hour drive. Eight hours I would spend with three people I barely knew. This was the first time I had ever been anywhere over spring break, and I was going with a family that was not mine to a place I had never been.
