Lava Beds Persuasive Memo

Dear Dr. Smurfts Randolph,

What better way to spend spring break than to visit the Lava Beds in California and Oregon! Your fellow staff and students have been wondering if it would be a good idea if we could take all 8th grade students to visit the Lava Beds National Monument located near the California and Oregon state border. Some people call the Lava Beds Monument California’s ”best kept secret.” This field trip would benefit the students in their educational endeavours. The students can also gaze at the beautiful scenery and geological features. Because of financial difficulties some students may experience, they may not get to visit places such as the Lava Beds. This would be a once in a lifetime experience and one they would remember

Dear Mr, Elie Wiesel. My English recently finished your book "Night", one of the few survivor stories of the Holocaust. While it’s hard to fully grasp the beauty and majesty of the geologic features on display in Yosemite National Park, it is quite easy to assume how they formed. I sat on a rock watching a group of elementary school kids explore the natural world. They looked at fish, hopped on rocks and followed bugs to their hearts’ content. We were about a mile from our cabin, at the end of Christopher Creek before it went under the road. As a junior counselor, I probably went way out of my jurisdiction in taking my four campers on such a long trip down the creek, but their enjoyment was worth the potential trouble. I couldn’t believe it; none of them had ever taken a trip down a creek.…
