Laurie Dupuis's Piloting Career

As a little girl, Laurie DuPuis knew exactly what she wanted to do when she grew up. When watching the crop duster fly by, she knew in her heart she was meant to be a pilot. Not many people grow up to be what they had hoped as a child, but for Laurie that was not the case. Even though her dream did come true, it wasn’t after she had already started college for other reasons. Her mother had always hoped her daughter would grow up to be a great doctor, and to make her mother happy she was going to do just that. She enrolled herself into Iowa State University for a pre-med major, and while attending school she started taking flying lessons. After a while she realized that she was not meant to be a doctor and she truly just wanted to be a pilot. There was no point in continuing something you did not want to expand on, so she did the most sensible thing, she dropped out of college. Now that she could actually do what she wanted, Laurie started her piloting career. At first it was just teaching others how to fly; she shared her knowledge with over three hundred people. Throughout the year she tries to plan for three sessions a week; however, that does not always plan out that way. When Fall and Spring roll around she might get 15-20 sessions a day; most people want to get holiday pictures in during these times due to the color changes in nature. Most of her sessions take place at her home; where she owns plenty of land with the perfect lighting to get the best pictures. Each client will take a couple pictures by the red barn; where the wood is chipped, the paint is coming off and a couple of hay bales allow for a sitting area.
