Laura Bohannan is an American anthropologist, who visits an African tribe called the Tiv. She was of the opinion that human nature is similar all over the world. In order to prove her point she took the story of Shakespeare “Hamlet” with her to prove that the points mentioned in it are universal.
She told the story to the tribe of Tivs’s on being asked. They often interrupted her in between her story telling because they thought that Laura was not able to comprehend the true meaning of the story, which they thought that they knew much better than her.
