Life at Latrobe in the late modernity has been easier in term of interaction between student/student and student/teacher because of the online environment that has been around for a while such as LMS, Facebook, Latrobe Library page online, and many others.
All these sites mentioned above are used in a way to help all students to be part of the university social life. In addition, it is an easy way to connect with others (teacher or/and students) share experience, thoughts and ideas from Bundoora as well as other campuses.
On Facebook, for example, I could communicate and participate with others' thoughts without even knowing them in the offline world. This has given me opportunity to feel that I belong to this culture. The online environment,

The language used on LMS is more formal, academic, respectful, and based on the specific subjects that students are enrolled in. Yet, topics discussed on Facebook are broader and can touch the private life of the individual. For example selling phones, books, looking for housemates to join them, many have post picture of things they found at university such as phones in the library, keys on the floors, books left on the shelf, others posts some jokes about the life at university especially during exam period.
Using the LMS will help each student to answer any question that belong to their subject that they are enrolled in. by compare it to Facebook, student can get answer to general questions from all students from and outside the university environment. It also helps to gain experience from old students who went through the same situation.
Coming from a different culture, living for the first time in a new environment that do not belong to the one that I grow up in has put me under huge pressure. However, by connecting to the online world have given me opportunity to learn about the Australian culture and more specifically Latrobe University. In addition, it helped me to take part and participate in many activities not just at university but also in activities outside this
