Latoya Bradshaw Case Study

Decent Essays
I am writing this letter to recommend LaToya Bradshaw to the Iota Nu Citywide chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. I have known her for the past 5 years and as a member of this esteemed sorority, I deeply believe that Latoya would be a wonderful new addition. Struggling with being an underprivileged, non-white dancer herself, she decided to give back and help those in similar situations. She established ABT’s Project Plié, which works to promote ethnic minorities and give them exposure to ballet (Collins). Similarly to how she was introduced to ballet, the project works in conjunction with the Boy’s and Girl’s Club, as well as ballet companies such as Orlando Ballet, Ballet Austin, and Cincinnati Ballet (Collins).…

Like the old ancient ritual of unity in the ancient Greek polis, people join a group to belong and do things for that group serves the overall goal of that organization. Texas Lutheran College has a variety of clubs and fraternities that its students belong to on campus. Both boys and girls had belonged to these organizations, which celebrated a bond of unity among its members. Students participated in activities associated with a club that improved their traits and talents as well as associate themselves with people of a particular social group. The members of the fraternities and clubs installed a sense of values and culture within their members.…

or any sorority for that matter, except for what I hear on my college campus, which are basically stigmas (good and bad) that are tied to each sorority. After months and months of my ears being flooded with “Zeta this, Gamma Rho that, AKA this, and Delta that,” and my friends telling me that I should pledge Delta because I’m very blunt and have an attitude, I literally thought the whole sorority (sisterhood) and fraternity (brotherhood) thing was stupid and childish. I told myself that I would never be apart of any sisterhood and I would be my own support, and my own organization. However, after continued pestering from my friends about how I should become a Delta because of my fitted Delta personality, I decided to do some research. The one thing that sold me on wanting to become a…
