She loved performing and although she wasn’t what the critics wanted she had talent. A skilled dancer with the work ethics of a Latina woman. My Cuban Abuelo had his own standard and ethics when he come from Cuba. While he had a green card visa to obtain education it was not to last long yet he found solace within my Abuela. During the 1950s this Latino couple followed the American Dream standards. My Abuelo worked in a dry cleaning business while my Abuela tended to the home and raised my father, her first and only child. Yet the American Dream standard did not last long due to a divorce between the two. That is when the Latino aspect of my Abuela shifted into one of her own. In Puerto Rico she was a smart talented performer and was Bilingual yet in America she was only qualified to get a job in a factory making handbags and putting labels on clothing. This shift created a different lifestyle my Abuela was use to because it was not a custom she learned. Her skill set was seen as she was only capable of working within a factory and not her full potential. This is something that we can call
