Role and Contribution of Latin Families in USA
The beginning of the 21st century has witnessed considerable increase in the number of the Latin families living in USA. At present, these are the largest minority group living in USA with the population of around 52 million (US Census Bureau Public Information Office). Considering their number, it is not a matter of wonder to see that these families tend to have very strong influence upon the US society and they have made significant contributions in different walks of life like music, military, economy, science and technology, literature, art, politics and business.
There is a long list of people from Latin families who have gained extra ordinary fame and popularity in music and films like “Jennifer Lopez, Robert Rodriguez, Salma Hayek, Anthony Quinn, Selena Gomez” and many more. The US politics and government structure is also highly influenced from the contributions of Latin families. “Joe Baca, Hector Barreto, Henry Bonilla, Gery Chico, Leopoldo Lopez, Chico Mendes and Alberto Lleras Camargo” are just few names that have performed their roles at important government positions (Bordas 165).
