At what church was the Mass celebrate?
The church that the traditional Latin Mass was celebrated at was the Saint Francis de Salles church in South City.
What were some of the differences between this Latin Mass and the Mass celebrated in your church (ex. Movements of the priest, decorations, altar set up, type of music, role of the servers, use of the bells)
The first, most notable thing is that the priest rarely turns around to the congregation but, only doing so for the first reading and homily. The priest and altar servants are also all turned to the altar. Another unusual thing was that the transubstantiates of the bread and wine were silent, very unlike and traditional Catholic mass. The altar on the other hand, was decorated extravagantly with a beautiful, well constructed central altar. The

The congregation was very active in the mass. We were constantly having to kneel for everything unlike a Catholic mass where we only kneel for the Eucharist. We also participated in singing a tremendous amount during the mass, singing Gregorian Chants. So overall the congregation was a very active and involved in the Latin mass.
In what language were the readings done?
The readings were done in traditional Latin but, it sounded a lot like Italian to me. I know very little Latin so it was very hard to understand but, I enjoyed it.
Why do you think people attend this mass?
I think people attend this mass because they feel that some of the tradition. Like the traditional Latin hymns or songs for example, are lost in a regular Catholic mass.I also thought the reason why people attend the Latin mass is to get closer to Jesus and the apostles because that's how it was done immediately after the church was taking off. In other words, experiencing a Latin Mass is an extraordinary experience and should be attended at least once by all. It brings us closer to God

In chapter one of Coleman O’Neil, OP’s book Meeting Christ in the Sacraments, O’Neil presents three important ideas which are: “Exodus,” “The Priesthood of Christ,” and “Members of the Priest.” (O’Neil pg. vii) O’Neil’s three points are so important that they are also echoed in the Magisterial document Sacrosanctum Concilium (hence forth referred to as S.C.). This paper will briefly examine why each of O’Neil’s ideas is significant, and this essay will also provide several quotes from the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy that support O’Neil’s assertions.…

In most masses I have attended, participation from the audience is somewhat low and at times nonexistent. I believe a reason for this is that Hispanic cultures seem to put more of an emphasis on the importance of music compared to American culture. While in America, music has become most notable as a part of the entertainment music, Hispanic cultures put more of a emphasis on the community aspect of music as opposed to the commercial aspect. While at St. Odilia, I sensed that music connected these people to each other more than music does for the average…

I found out when I went there, that this church has multiple locations scattered across the world; the other location is in Hong Kong, China. It was difficult to attend this church service, because of the fact that it's different from the usually church service that I'm more comfortable being around. I have been Catholic for an 8 month, but been attending a Catholic mass for 2 years. The ways I found it different then a Catholic Mass was that the church service only have communion once a month, they don't believe that Jesus is alive in the Eucharist, and they…

During the first few months I went I found it to be quite boring and unintriguing for me. I had to stay by my brother at all times because I didn’t know anybody else there; making the whole ordeal even more soporific but I had no other choice. A lot of people around me didn’t really look interested, and or didn’t care about what was going on. Some were even on their phones during the mass, which is incredibly disrespectful.…

Growing up Catholic I witnessed plenty of curious practices that I have always questioned throughout my life. Worshiping of saints, the day of the dead and sobanderos, also known as holy healers. A perfect example of unique rituals within the Latin Catholic Church beliefs would have to be the worship of Saints, also known as Santeria. Santeria is described as the idolizing of saints, only it is a Complicated topic since many people consider Santeria to be related to Pagan practices and without a doubt not certainly something that is accepted within our bible. Two of my uncles who practiced Santeria were not taught enough to know that something such as worshipping the holy death was unquestionably not permitted in our religion.…

Before I stepped into St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, I thought that attending Catholic Mass would not be all that different from the Protestant services I grew up attending. However, I felt out of place as soon as I walked through the front doors. Everything felt foreign to me; from the way the building was set up, to the way people behaved during the service, to the way everyone exited the church. As an outsider, I felt lost and almost lonely as the masses around me moved in unison and I was left trying to follow along as best I could. I did not feel that Mass was welcome and open as the services of the Protestant churches that I am familiar with.…

The Catholic Worship Service: The Mass for Dummies explains their understanding of worship as” the formal, official worship service of Catholicism, is the most important and sacred act of worship in the Catholic Church. Going to Mass is the only way a Catholic can fulfil the Third Commandment to keep holy the Sabbath day and the only regular opportunity to receive the Holy Eucharist.” The Mass incorporates the Bible (Sacred Scripture), prayer, sacrifice, hymns, symbols, gestures, sacred food for the soul, and directions on how to live a Catholic life — all in one ceremony.…

One the morning of Wednesday October 5, 2016 I attended a catholic mass in St. Brigids Parish in Amherst, Ma, just a few minutes off from the UMass Amherst Campus. This Parish stands with a lot ground, tall and massive. Is very distinctive from the building around, it’s built almost entirely of bricks for the outside and its architecture is complemented the massive windows. This ritual took place at 8:00 in the morning. The people who attended this service were few.…
