First of all the Barber is going to let Captain Torres live or go out the store safely. The first reason for this argument is that the Barber cares about his life and the store he works at because he is the best Barber in the whole town. Here is a quote from the story. “And with the enemy in my house I felt a certain responsibility. I would have to shave his beard just like any other, carefully, neatly, just as though he were a good customer, taking a heed that not a single pore should emit a drop of blood.” This is importance because the quotes shows that he cares about his store and his life to much to let anything bad happen to it. Secondly the barber has a choice to become hero or a murder but he decide to stay the same because he thought of what would happen if I kill Captain Torres. Where would I hide the body? The blood will go through the front door and outside. Another quote is “From his throat a stream of blood would …show more content…
The reason for the argument is that he is a police officer who punishes rebellion by death and hanging them dead in a schoolyard. Barber ask Captain Torres “How many did you take?” “Fourteen. We had to go pretty far in to find them. But now they’re paying for it. And not one will escape; not a single one.” This is important because it shows that people who are against Captain Torres are afraid of him because he is on a killing rampage of rebellions. Another reason for this argument is that the barber himself is a rebellion but he kept it a secret and not let anyone no because he is scared of dying, and he would rather be a Barber than a rebellion. Barber speaks to himself. “Yes. I was secretly a revolutionary but at the same I was a conscientious barber, proud of the way I did my job.” This is important because the barber was once a rebellion but he gave that up because he found a job that he enjoys doing and very good at it to. Also he was scared of Captain Torres because he had killed many people, and going to kill many more of his kind in future. Final reason for why he is afraid is of Captain Torres is because he has many that are loyal to him and would do anything for him. Here is an example when barber was thinking of killing him what would happen to his body, what would happen to him. He would have to run for his life time until Captain Torres man caught up with him.

One analogy the author uses is "from the hills came creams,” I interpreted that even the wildlife in the area noticed there was a difference in the valley. I also understood that to be an impressive moment. She also gave her comparison of an total eclipse "as flying in an airplane" does to "flying out of a plane" I believed that she was stating the two cannot be compared; only seeing a partial eclipse is not the same as seeing the real thing. Some differences may consist of weather conditions. She stated that with a total eclipse it is full darkness not partial.…

Anyone who reads In the Penal Colony by Kafka cannot fail but noticing what is called the apparatus. This huge machine, described by the Officer as perfect and wonderful, and arguably perceived by most readers as horrible and disgusting. The machine is basically an instrument of death; executions are carried out using the machine to carve into the condemned man's flesh a sentence that represents the lesson he needs to learn. The machine appears very complex and well constructed for its purpose. It is an elaborate mechanism in which nothing is left to chance.…

The author also described the Socs as though “they were all cut from the same piece of cloth: clean shaven with semi-Beatle haircuts, wearing striped or checkered shirts with light red or tan-colored jackets or madras ski jackets.” (p. 141).
