Everyone has light and darkness in them, but what sets each person apart is which they decide to side with. Peter, from “The Day of the Last Rock Fight” (add author) and The Barber from “Lather, and Nothing Else” (add author) may have learned ones decision process is very important, and both have had the opportunity to take a life, but their different decisions (including how they deal with problems), and their outcomes is what set them apart the most. To begin with, one of the most important life skills that you can have is the ability to control your thoughts and not let them get consumed by ones emotions. Due to the new speculation and the new found information "she wouldn't even come on the phone" (page 6), with the new (limited) information Peter begins in his descent into the loss of innocence and fall from the Golden Age, Peter decides to kill Gene to try to make his way back to the Golden Age, with his mind clouded with emotions. Whereas the Barber, (who the readers have more insight on) clearly gave the situation a lot more thought and in the end, he found it to be the most beneficial, as he looks at all the perspectives, and keeps his emotions at bay.
