The Impact of a Later School Day School is a necessity of life, which is why it’s important that students are able to go through a day of school able-minded and ready to learn. In order for students to achieve to their full potential and to the best of their abilities, there are many factors deemed necessary for them. Not all students would benefit from changing the starting time of school. This is due to their parents, who have their own schedules and would also be affected. They don’t have the time to sit around and wait to drop students off for school - they have work as well. This essentially means that we’d treat that hour later of school similar to how we would a normal hour of school - we would just procrastinate, same as usual. We would also end school at a later time, meaning we’d fall asleep later in the night. Although this might not apply to every student, I can speak from experience that many of my peers and I would procrastinate, consequenting in going to sleep at a later hour in the night. . What this means is that changing the school hours wouldn’t make us all the more proactive in our educations - we’d only be changing the time we go to bed and the time we wake

Research has shown that teenagers experience a change in their internal sleep clock so that waking up early and going to sleep early are difficult. This being said I think that high school classes should begin and end later in the day because; students will pay attention better in class, gives students more time to eat a healthy breakfast, and more students will arrive at school on time. When students do not get enough sleep they tend to sleep in class. If high schools start school later in the day students will be more encouraged to stay awake in class and pay attention to the task given.…

School start times should not change to a later start. For one, it can be very costly, and many students could take advantage of the shift in times, and go to bed later than they already would. There are many complications that can come into play if school start times shifted to a later time. Mrs. Willie, an eighth grade social studies teacher at Western Middle School says that, if school starts later, some teachers that live far away, (which most do..) would be getting up at the same time for school because of traffic, and coming home later, which would leave teachers having no free time for themselves, or doing school related things like grading. Another reason that school start times should not change is that if Greenwich Public Schools changes the start time, it can cause major stress on students.…
