Tech Essay As seen on Late Night with Conan O’Brien, well known comedian Louis CK refers to the way technology has taken over life as people once knew it. The United States has access to some of the greatest inventions and ideas in the world, but unfortunately it is all taken for granted. Everyday people complain about the most minor inconveniences despite how far the world has come, proving Louis’ statement “everything’s amazing, but nobody’s happy.” People here need to be grateful for what we have, instead of focusing on all of the things we do not have or the inconveniences that come with them. It is true that problems occur often with technology. Everyday others are heard complaining about how slow the internet connection is, or how …show more content…
Anything from cyberbullying, to social media, to leaking pictures and information once kept confidential has caused a lot of controversy over whether or not technology is actually benefitting our society. All of the problems caused by technology is projected to increase the number of technology related occupations 13% between 2016 and 2026. Instead of looking for all of the flaws in everything, the world needs to focus on how far our technology advancements have come in such a short amount of time. People no longer have to sit for hours in order to take pictures. Cell phones allow us to connect with people in all different regions of the world. Technology created today has created half a million new jobs in the U.S. alone. We have and will continue to benefit from the advancements created in so many ways. In the midst of a technologically saturated lifestyle, I stand by the idea that technology’s impact on the United States was once empowering, but has began to hinder the minds of average Americans. Many individuals go about their day without recognition of their use of short cuts that weren’t available a mere ten years ago, let alone the use of developed inventions that began one hundred years ago. I feel immensely fortunate to be apart of what seems like one of the last generations to physically understand what the human race has grown from because technology has shifted our mental and physical capacity to comprehend and teach information. Regardless of the negative and positive perspectives upon technological advances, the emergence of…

We as a society have become so dependent on our phones that without it we begin to feel lost and weak as if it’s a drug. Steve Cutt does a great job of depicting the true meaning of our society through these images or as he calls them the “sad truth“. The imagine that has caught my attention was the one that looked like the zombie apocalypse has taken over, except the zombies were actually us humans and our food supply are our phones (technology). My reaction to this image consisted of agreement and worry that we might actually be in big trouble if we continue to live a life where technology is our most important need rather than being happy with what we have. Instead we are becoming a consumer – driven society what always wants more of…
