Lasting Legacy When the time comes and this student is looking back at his life knowing that the end is near, there is one legacy that hopefully will be left in the memory of all those who knew him. That is, a legacy of a person who saw the needs of those around him and responded with compassion and action. In the Gospel of Matthew, the bible says: When He (Jesus) saw the crowds, He had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. (Matt.9:36). This student wants to be able to look back at his life, and to know that he felt compassion, and that compassion led him to action to help those in need of love, in need of comfort, in need of food and in need of shelter. This legacy will allow this writer to have a feeling of Ego integrity, and will avoid the feeling of despair. Christ is the essence of this student's being, and to be able to imitate Christ will the greatest honor this author could possibly want.
