For the past week or so I have been reading Last Year’s Mistake by Gina Ciocca, The DUFF by Kody Keplinger and finishing The Moment Of Letting Go J.A. Redmerski. Last Year’s Mistake is a story about two best friends, Kelsey and David, who become distant after the true feelings for each other are known. Before Kelsey moves away David confesses his true feelings for her, which only makes Kelsey angry. Kelsey is upset at David for not telling her before for in her eyes it is too late. The novel The DUFF is about Bianca a typical teenage girl with a negative self-image who is trying to ignore her issues by distracting herself with a boy. A question most readers will have while reading this novel is why Kelsey hides her affection. The answers although not always clearly demonstrated are directly on the pages of this novel. One of the reasons Kelsey could be lying about her emotions is her self-doubt. Kelsey is not very confident especially after David. Which can lead her to thinking David is on a higher level than she is, therefore making her think David cannot like her. Another reason is the Kelsey is simply stubborn, she is good at making herself think that she does not love David and is happy without him. Kelsey tricks herself into thinking she does not need David with her. Lastly Kelsey has seen David with numerous girls that can lead her into thinking that David does not need her either. “What ever that little scene had meant, I didn’t want to know. Sienna makes the decision of leaving Luke after she realizes that she is not okay with his dangerous life style. Before making this decision Sienna thought long and hard about it. She thought about all the alternatives and the consequences, she thought about staying and how much she would worry about him. After pondering about it she decided she could not deal with worrying if every time Luke went out the door she would never see him again. After making her decision and left she would do anything to distract herself to not think about Luke and how much she actually missed him and worried about him. The last stage she goes through with her decision-making is regret. Sienna regrets leaving Luke and knows she made a bad decision. Sienna rethinks the decision but this time knowing the consequences and decides to go through another path. Like Sienna I went through the same decision process. My best friend and me were fighting and it was the worst fight we had gotten into. After thinking about everything we have been through I decided that I was tired of her and her friendship so I moved on. At first I thought I did not miss her at all and that I was perfectly fine with not having her in my life anymore.
