Randy Pausch was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September 2006 and then delivered this famous speech; Last Lecture: Achieving Your Childhood Dreams, a year later in 2007. This speech has become one of the most viewed lectures on the Internet. Though different techniques and strategies Pausch performed a near perfect speech. Without these three things in your persuasive speech the audience wont be persuaded perhaps. As Pausch walks through his life experiences you learn that he has his doctorates, and is a professor at a very highly regarded university, this shows his credibility and ethos. His appeal to pathos comes from the moment he comes on stage, announcing that he has only a couple healthy months left to live, to the end of the speech when he makes his final comment that none of this was meant for the audience, but for his children that he will never see grow
