Totalitarian dictators such as Stalin, Hitler, and Mussolini not only corrupted Russia, Germany, and Italy, respectively, but killed millions upon millions of people in the process. The scary part about history is that it often repeats itself, and with the upcoming presidential election, there is a possibility of such an occurrence. Many people are aware of Donald Trump’s campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again!”…

Kennedy, the youngest president and Roman Catholic to ever be elected as a U.S. president, addressed the people of America with a wise and powerful speech, both unifying and challenging the youth of America and warning Russia to have an equal amount of admiration for peace as America. While he was the youngest president, he didn’t wear a coat or tie when giving his inaugural speech. Kennedy’s images didn’t stick to the Americans, but his words did.…

Just as humans, dictators are not born evil but are influenced enough to gain power and abuse it. If one has the power to control all, then they could use it to their own advantage. Stories such as Macbeth by William Shakespeare and Animal Farm by George Orwell illustrate how such characters like Macbeth and Napoleon rise to power to use it for themselves as similarity to dictators like Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Benito Mussolini. By doing this, dictators blind the eyes of the people by stealing their freedoms through manipulation to gain innate superiority.…

History textbooks, history classes, and even news broadcasts about historical events, are often one dimensional. These historical resources fall into the trap of only documenting the realities of various historical events. The Civil Rights Movement, specifically, is a casualty of this narrow account of history. The cold war took place during the years 1945 and 1991 between the United States and the Soviet Union. It is known as the cold war because it never turned “hot,” which means that there was never any actual fighting between the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. During these years, many important things happened, many things were invented, and World War III almost happened on many different occasions. On March 5, 1946, Prime Minister Winston Churchill delivered a speech which, essentially, kick-started the Cold War.1 While he was delivering his speech, he kept praising the United States, almost like he was buttering them up for something. It was clear that the main purpose of this speech was to try to form a closer bond with the United States. He spoke of a iron curtain that had fallen between Eastern Europe and the rest of the world.…
