Larry's War: A Short Story

Larry is a five year old normal boy, just as every other boy. His life is surrounded with her mother. He is thoroughly dependent on her mother, as their daily routine were involved with each other. Larry didn't have cousins, nor friends, rarely his father came met him, he was like a Santa clause to him because he was in the army. His father was in army and currently in an ongoing war, he preys for his dad to come back. Did he really want him to come back. If he did, then why did Larry stated, “war was the most peaceful period of my life”. Undoubtedly, he had no cruel intention for his father but, he didn't want him to disturb his life and his monopoly. Reason behind the attachment between mother and son could be: First, Larry had no other choice but, to be with her mother, no friends, no cousins, he knew only one person in his whole life and that was his mother. Second, scenario could be, Larry never gave himself a chance to explore the world he was not able to think anything beyond his mother.

The comfort and the love of Larry for his increased so much that it took the shape of jealousy, and insecurity. He compared every thing with his father and behaved …show more content…
I would be an exaggeration if his mother took it seriously. It may disinterest audience, on a closer look to this scenarios people you be able to evaluate, Larry found this as an only solution to proof his father that she is my mother more, than you wife.

Throughout the story Larry's characteristics his point of view changed as time. People could not differentiate Larry to a boy who is hitting puberty and having hormones change. Whereas, here author showed how and what a kid do in these scenarios. The most commendable language and how the author went in a flow. There were point during the story where I could be anything. In my opinion author left it more on the readers to give story their own
