Large Animal Veterinarian

Decent Essays
I am here at Purdue University to pursue my dream of becoming a large animal veterinarian. Ever since I can remember I have wanted to do something agricultural related whether that meant running the family farm or working for a local agricultural business. As the years of working on the family farm went on I became more and more attracted to the idea of working with large animals. As working with large animals sparked interest I decided that I needed to consider future careers and a veterinarian was the one that seemed best suited for me. Once I decided on a career I applied to the top agricultural university in the state and have now found myself at home here. The major influences in my life were my grandmother and my father. There are positive and negative aspects to being an animal shelter veterinarian. The most difficult part of being an animal shelter veterinarian is dealing with the behavioral problems of the shelter animals. “Animal Behavior for Shelter Veterinarians and Staff” supports my view that animal shelter veterinarians are required to deal with serious animal aggression and trauma. Shelter animals tend to have more behavioral problems than animals brought into a regular veterinary clinic. It is absolutely necessary to socialize with animals and read their body language in order to be the most successful shelter veterinarian possible.…

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to attend North Dakota State University. My dad and sister are NDSU alumni, so furthering my education where they did provides us with a unique bond. Additionally, not many of my relatives attended college, allowing me to see the difficulties in providing for oneself and family without a college degree. Although I know the next seven years are going to be challenging, extremely strenuous, and will push me to the edge of my comfort zone, the satisfaction of administering medical services to those who need them will make it worthwhile. Not only will I be able to care for others with a Pharm.…

Future Plans and Reasons for Applying for a Farm Bureau Scholarship Some kids play sports in high school. Others march in the band, star in school plays, or join the healthcare career training program. Me, I didn’t do any of those things, because, after middle school, I made the decision to devote my life and career to help better the industry of agriculture in the future. Thus, I didn’t spend my afternoons out on the field or on the stage in high school, I spent mine in barns, animal pens, and classrooms, as an avid member of both 4-H and FFA along with involvement in numerous other programs related to agriculture in the local community. Not trying to brag on myself, although scholarship applications like this are the place to do so, but the accomplishments I achieved in my youth career along with those I continue to achieve have led me to have one of the most decorated resumes…

Azlynn did exceptionally well at staying focus and on task throughout our weeks together. She was very shy at first and it took some time in her opening up to me. On the first day together I shared about myself so that she could get to know me better as a person. Once I did that and with each day we were together she opened up more and more. Once she got comfortable enough she liked to talk about what she was going to do after school that day and after every few sentences of reading I would have to ask her to stay focused and get back on track.…

My decision to apply to Western Washington University comes from my inspiration to achieve what I envision my self-becoming someday. Up to this point in my college education, life has been and up and down ride, definitely not what I had envisioned. But the one thing I’ve always kept true to myself is who I see myself becoming in the future. My senior year of high school was filled with questions of where I saw myself in five or ten years, and I thought I had a perfect idea of what that would be. I made choices I thought would help me achieve those goals I previously had set out.…

I want to be a veterinary technician because I want to help animals out more than I have already tried too. The things that appeal most about being a veterinary technician is usually the flexible hours that they give, and being a veterinary technician has on the job flexibility. Vet technicians work hard to help their pets and to make their people smile. Veterinary Technicians have hands on training and hands on work all day while they are working. All veterinary technicians that I know and saw at work kept running back and forth through sugeries and appointments, I believe Veterinarians have it worse than them because they have to do everything including: Surgeries, prescription medicines, appointments, putting animals down.…
