Lansdowne Elementary School is a public elementary school located in Halethorpe in Baltimore County. Home of the Lions, Lansdowne has approximately 500 students, in grades Pre-K through fifth, with 55% Caucasian, 30% African-American, 10% Hispanic, 4% Asian, and 1% other (mostly Middle Eastern). Their library media specialist is Joe Chludzinski. Students visit the library once a week as a part of their specials schedule, while some classes get to visit twice of week. During their time with Mr. Chludzinski and through the curriculum designed by Baltimore County Public School’s Office of Digital Learning, students are encouraged to use skills that promote learning through project based assignments, an important skill for the 21st century learner. In addition students visit the library to find books that interest them to promote a lifelong love for reading.

Each year, a collections analysis is ran that helps to allocate funds to each school. Each LMS gets a letter with their allotted amount and the funds need to be used by the end of February. This is the major source of funding that is used for ordering books. Sometimes, the school will get extra funding from Follett or other sources. In addition, they have a book fair and there is some money available that has been used to purchase bean bags and prizes but that money sometimes goes to the general fund if it is too
