Language is constantly evolving. Words used at one time can drop out of the language nowa-days or be used in new ways. For instance, it is very rare to hear someone use the word, “abeo-dan”. It means to announce or proclaim, hence, to advertise. Sounds unfamiliar and strange, right? Not only has the word for advertising changed over decades, but advertising itself has changed. In the past advertising was as simple as just announcing the existence of a product to people by saying they need or deserve to own that product. The employment of euphemism to express the stark truth by adding affable words in representation shows the power of language in history. We all have had our truths altered by authoritative figures when discussing about brutal situations that occur in and outside our coun-try. As Sanders states, “War, torture, and assassination have been sold to the American people with the same methods used in marketing any new product, and with as little regard for the truth” (Sanders 82). Our view on events, products and even people has been changed due to how certain individuals use language. The use of euphemism was especially used in the past when the genocide was referred as “the final solution” back then but today we know it was actually ethnic cleansing. Sanders points out, “The barrage of ads aims to stir in us a constant craving, and to persuade us that we can satisfy our craving by spending money” (Sanders 80). The Coca Cola industry have paid stores to advertise their product by positioning it at a current eye view so that customers are persuaded to buy their product. This is due to people being more attracted to things at eye level. Marketing have taught people to be seduced with products they might enjoy and look attracting. Ads and billboard are certain colors in order to attract people in looking at or even buying. We all have gone through this when we see something on TV and the advertiser makes it so easy and cool to use. However, when we buy it, it is completely different from what we saw on TV -- sometimes not even worth buying and wasting our time
