Why Is It Important To Learn A Second Language Essay

Language is a big part in our life because it helps us in many ways, such as communicating, and translating to others. Personally knowing two languages has helped me communicate with many people that have come across me. Despite the complication of growing up speaking only one language and transitioning from one to another. Although language can be complicated to learn and also there can be times when a certain language makes one feel uncomfortable but is beneficial, such as me I know English but I only use it when needed because it doesn’t identify me like Spanish does. They can say a few words but it wouldn 't come out as good, they would say the couple words they know in English and the rest in Spanish basically Spanglish. Their way of speaking English is using the Spanish accent such as saying “McDonalds” they tend to say “Maidonas”. This is beneficial because now that they have someone to help them they don’t have to struggle as much as before when we all only spoke Spanish, including me. Knowing a couple of languages just makes things a lot easier. Although, I have to admit that there were times where I got frustrated and didn’t want to learn English because I found it too complicated to learn. The transition between both languages made it harder for me. But my parents always told me to learn it because it would benefit me later on in life such as in college and jobs. Besides that, in America that’s the foreign language that everyone uses so if I didn’t learn, then I would be struggling just like they were and still continue struggling till this day.
