Language Is A Method Of Shared, Social And Cultural Rules Of Communication
Language can be delivered in a variety of different formats. Oral or spoken language exists within all groups in society (Gee & Hayes, 2011, p.7) and is the basis written literacy. Oral language can be heard through several channels including the common face-to-face conversation, through radio and television programs, or via more sophisticated means using voice chat with compatible digital devices (Skype or FaceTime). Another common mode of language expression is seen with written language. Information and communication is available through a magnitude of written mediums such as newspapers, emails, Internet, billboards, and street navigation signs. Language can also be equally expressed and shown and is used commonly through body language with gestures and sign language (AUSLAN).
