Lana shot a glance towards the baby blue eyes that she felt lying on her. She saw Mary Eunice's face blow up in a dark shade of scarlet. She saw her body stiffen as she turned her head to the ground and she started to rush towards the exit out of the day room.

"Second time this day." Lana chuckled to herself while taking another long drag from her cigarette. She flicked the cigarette over the ashtray, and watched the tiny specks float down from the butt. She finally released the smoke from her lungs and blew out slowly. "She looked so panicked, almost...guilty?" Lana thought. "No, she couldn't possibly..." Lana tried to convince herself that Mary was too devoted to God to even let the mere thought of it into her mind. And yet...

Mary stopped kneading the dough for a moment, but almost immediately started again. "Whatever do you mean, Miss Winters? I'm not...Afraid..." Mary paused briefly as though she was trying to convince herself more than Lana.

"Is that so? Then why did you flinch when I walked over here?" Lana's tone became more daring.

Mary's cheeks flushed in a deep pink, her ears quickly mimicked. "You startled me is all, Miss Winters"

Lana turned her head up from the dough, "You know Mary, I see the way you look at me."

Lana turned her head to Mary to see her face become an even darker shade of red.

"I don't k-know what you're going on about M-miss Winters." Mary's pitch seemed to rise with every word she spoke.

"Just tell me the truth Mary, please? I promise I won't tell anyone. I'm just tired of feeling watched all the time you know?" Lana smirked as the last sentence left her mouth. Truth be told, she did enjoy the thought of Mary squirming around from the thought of her.
