Lamb to the slater
In the short story Lamb to the slaughter by Roald Dahl, a perfect couple is turned out and what you expect least to happen happens. Mary Maloney is the perfect wife to her husband she pleases him in any way he would like and sometimes even does more than what he ask.This guy named Patrick has some nerve wrecking news to tell his wife(Mary Maloney). His wife is six months into pregnancy .He finally tells her the nerve wrecking news and she does not react very well. She kills him with a leg of a lamb and frames it like she found him there dead when she came home from the grocery store. Not to mention her husband was a policeman. Mary (Patrick's wife) is very lovely and caring to begin with “she took his coat and hung it up then made some drinks” (1).She went out of her way to make him happy, anything he needed she had it no worries around the house for him. Mary Maloney, a stay at home wife notices something wrong with her husband as they are drinking. “He lifted his glass and drank it down in one swallow although there was still half of it left” (1). After telling her he was relieved this evidence provides that he was relieved “So there it is” (2) the connotation and surrounded context helped me infer what his emotion was at this time. He finally got it off his chest and told the truth to her. After finding out the news Mary Maloney was angry. “At that point, Mary Maloney simply walked up behind him and without any pause, she swung the big frozen leg of lamb high in the air and brought it down on the back of his head as hard as she could” (2). She was shocked after killing him but she was still calm. “So I”ve killed him” she said showing she stayed calm because she knew she needed to, to make up a plan but she was shocked because she wasn’t even thinking about what she was doing.
Then the frustration kicked in “she began thinking very fast”(2). This part shows when she started to overthink things a little and had to settle down a bit. She was wondering like oh my god what will i do. It finally hit her that she killed a man and would be punished.”” this is part of when she was overthinking things she didn't know what to do, say or think.
Then she finally settled down a bit got everything in control “both the sound and the voice sounded better now”(2). She makes up a plan rehearsed the plan and executes the
