In Al Gore’s movie “An Inconvenient Truth” he explains the long term effects of global warming on our earth along with all the problems it’s caused thus far, by using diagrams, pictures, and videos to aid him in explaining. Global warming is a huge problem in the world; many people don’t look into the actual effects it has on the world we live in. Two posters were made for the movie and both have different pictures. The two posters for the movie both depict the same outcome; that the world could turn out to be an extensively dangerous place. This poster is displaying a message that was stated in the movie by Al Gore. He shows an animated video of a polar bear swimming to an ice sheet; and as the bear gets there, the ice breaks, so the bear has no choice but keep swimming to find solid ice to rest on. Gore explains that when this happens, the bears have to swim miles and miles just to find a place to rest,” for the first time when seen polar bears drown from having to travel so far”, he says. The real question is; why is the Ice melting? As the greenhouse gases trap in sunlight, the sun keeps the Earth at a normal temperature but cause problems like our colder places to start to warm up. “When the sun hits the Ice caps, it’s like a giant mirror. As the sun's rays hit the caps they start to melt but the rays bounce off of the ice and go back into the atmosphere, but when the ice melts and the rays hit the open ocean, the ocean just absorbs it and melts the ice faster. The penguins walking on a desert, is a symbol; the penguins won’t have the same climate that they’ve adapted to their whole lives. They will have no choice but to adapt to a warmer climate because of what the world is coming to. The penguins appeal more to the audience than the factory does. Yes, when you look at the factory and see the eye of the hurricane, it sends a message. Viewing penguins walking across a warm desert comes off the same way as the ASPCA commercials do, because they’re animals. Factories don’t have the same emotional appeal that animals do but they still serve a big importance. All factories let off gasses that are not very suitable to be placed in the atmosphere.
