With the array of different people from different walks of life at the park, neither my gender nor my race played a role in how I was perceived by the people around me. This park is a place where I was simply an inconsequential blip amongst the many people that were in attendance at Lake Eola this evening. I did, however, have one gentleman this particular evening that was strolling by and as he walked by he tried to make small talk and eye contact with me asking "How are you on this evening, beautiful?”. This man, who was dressed quite spiffy in seemingly new workout gear, seemed to be looking for something other than a walk or run. So I just stared off into the distance like I was looking for someone to return and he scoffed as he walked away. I am not quite sure if he thought I was rude or if he thought I was rejecting his advances. Either way, he left. Maybe he was unaccustomed to being
