The semi-barbaric princess sent her lover to the door with the hungry tiger in Frank Stockton’s “The Lady, or the Tiger?” The princess shows eternal love, but also shows jealousy and hatred for the lady behind the door. Stockton put many clues in the story, to lead the readers to thinking that the tiger coming out of the door. The princess’ eternal love is shown in the quote, “Would it not be better for him to die at once, and wait for her in the blessed regions of the semi-barbaric futurity?” She was wondering if it would be better for the man to die at once and have him wait for her, and when she dies, they can get married. She really loved the man, so why she would want to see her lover and the woman she loathes get married? Her eternal
