When Macbeth says, king is leaving tomorrow. Lady Macbeth reply by saying that will never happen because they will kill the king. Lady Macbeth says, “Look like th’ innocent flower, but be the serpent under’t (I.v.56-68)”. Lady Macbeth is talking about Macbeth should act innocent and welcoming to the king just to fulfil the desire to kill the king. Also hide motives to kill the king. Lady Macbeth is the one who planted the idea of killing the king by fooling him into believing that Macbeth is innocent subject. Not someone who is very suspicious who might make the king think that something is wrong with Macbeth. When Lady Macbeth hears Macbeth says that king will leave tomorrow. Macbeth is confused and don’t know if he really want to kill the King like Lady Macbeth is convincing him to. He is content with having the title of Cawdor and fame in Scotland of being a hero. He says, “We will proceed no further in this business.He hath honored me of late, and I have bought Golden opinions from all sorts of people (I.vii.31-33)”. Macbeth wants to enjoy honors he is getting and not risk them by killing the king. However, Lady Macbeth is angry and think Macbeth isn’t man enough to kill the king. She says, “What beast was ’t, then,That made you break this enterprise to me? When you durst do it, then you were a man;” (I.vii.47-49). Lady Macbeth treats Macbeth with disappointment because he doesn’t dare to do what he wants and lives as a coward.
