The purpose of my soliloquy is to illustrate the doctor’s interpretation of unbridled ambition and power and its consequences on one’s conscience and overall physical state. It grants insight on the doctor’s awareness of the deterioration of the marriage between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth as a result of the grasp of ambition and power. When the doctor, as an omniscient observer, infiltrates the breakdown of the relationship between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, it alludes to the audience’s sensibilities and provokes the attainment of deeper insight on the dramatic conflict driving a schism between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. The soliloquy explores the strain of secrets and truth and the emotional burden this poses on the doctor’s view of himself and the world around him, issues that are imminent with human experience and thus relevant to the audience. The role of Christianity and sin in determining the values and fate of an individual is also explored via language forms and features to adhere to the context of the 16th century and spur audience
