Upon arrival Macbeth starts having conversation with his wife advising her that they cannot continue with the plan. “We will proceed no further in his business, He hath honored me of late, and I have bought golden opinions from all sorts of people.”(1,7,30-35). Macbeth wishes to proceed no longer due to King Duncan’s nobleness in honoring him with such prestigious title and earning respect and good opinion of the people. He also desires to honor and enjoy the gifts he has been presented with while their still fresh and well received. After Macbeth expresses his thoughts towards the situation, Lady Macbeth outraged begins to dishonor him and calls him a coward. “Wouldst thou have that which thou esteem”st the ornament of life, and live a coward in thine own esteem letting I dare not wait upon I would.”(1,7,42-45). Macbeth starts as a noble man but temptation and ambition soon starts to consume him by events that occur throughout the play. Such as the witches prophecies coming true and provoking Macbeth to have horrifying thoughts. Or his wife lady Macbeth convincing him to follow his ambition towards what he desires, and finally the visions provided to Macbeth reassured his confidence however in the process of doing so it began to cloud his mind and eventually his ambition caused his downfall.
