Manipulation is a key aspect of Lady Macbeth. She uses the art to essentially control her husband. When Macbeth is hesitant to her proposing they murder King Duncan, Lady Macbeth questions his masculinity and Macbeth defends himself, “I dare do all that may become a man; Who dares do more is none.”(1,7,46-47) even though he does, eventually gets broken down.Then in this line, “When you durst do it, then you were a man.”(1,7,49), she continues to put the idea in Macbeth's head that the only way to prove he is in fact masculine, is to carry out the plan to murder Duncan.
