Macbeth, on the other hand, was a shyer, laid back person. This combination made it easy for Lady Macbeth to overrule or overpower Macbeth and get him to do what she wanted him to do (Kenneth). When Lady Macbeth hears that the witches say that Macbeth will become king, she takes it into her own hand to make it happen. She started to plan the murder of King Duncan, who was the current king, knowing that she could overpower and pressure Macbeth into killing King Duncan. She was forced to step up and make things happen herself because he husband was not manly enough to do it. She had to do the dirty work because her husband was too weak. In order for her to step up and take control, she asked her spirits to fill her “From the crown to the toe top-full of direst cruelty” (Shakespeare 1. v. 40.). This means that she wanted to have her feminine emotions replaced with the emotional characteristics of a man so that she would have the strength and courage to finish the job of killing King Duncan (Johnson). She also showed her intense energy because she was the one who planned the murder, she was the one that got the guards so drunk that they passed out, she was the one that put the dagger in Macbeth’s hand to kill King Duncan, and she was the one that had to finish the job when he was too weak to do it himself
