Seizing power may seem potentially an intelligent act, however, it may all lead to one disastrous misfortune. In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare, a man by the name of Macbeth is fighting in a battle, where he is named hero and given the title of Thane of Cawdor. He is later informed by three witches that he will soon be the king. Although at first Macbeth may be skeptical, what was initially a foretold destiny, resulted a reality. It didn 't matter to him who he was going to betray or hurt, to get to the position he wanted. With much ambition Macbeth achieves the throne with some assistance. Unfortunately, Macbeth and his wife, Lady Macbeth came to the to the late realization that seizing power would result in an ocean of guilt. It is either Lady Macbeth’s way or no way at all. Lady Macbeth likes to know she has power and when she is presented the idea to contain it she will do whatever it takes to gain it. Lady Macbeth states after she receives a letter from her husband: Hie thee hither, That I may pour my spirits in thee ear And chastise with the valor of my tongue All that impedes thee from the golden round, Which fate and metaphysical aid doth seem To have thee crowned withal.(1.5.24-29)
In the letter, she gets informed that Macbeth is going to be the new Thane of Cawdor, and a prediction from the witches of Macbeth possibly being future king. However, she wanted to make sure the prediction became a reality. Greedy, Lady Macbeth…
