Lady Jane Grey

In history we have gone through many things. At the center of all history, we have London in all it’s glory. With all of their monarchs they had to make very specific and clear decision. With a bloody past and current day haunts, the Tower of London is still standing, and up for visiting until this very day with many tours about the gruesome deaths that resided there. In this true tower of terror, the walls are (metaphorically) stained red with the blood of the past. Countless people have perished in this prison such as the Lady Jane Grey or Guy Fawkes. “Guy Fawkes. The poor soul that was inhumanly treated in this bloody tower. He was beaten, racked all for being caught burning down the houses of parliament. This went on until he and his …show more content…
There are many known sightings of the same people that perished centuries ago. Even now you can see the haunting of Lady Jane Grey, or more commonly known as ‘The White Lady.’ “The massive White Tower is the oldest and most forbidding of all the Tower of London’s buildings and its winding stone corridors are the eerie haunt of a "White Lady" who once stood at a window waving to a group of children in the building opposite.”(Richard 5) She can be roaming around the tower headless, as she was ordered to be decapitated by Mary Tudor the, heir after Grey’s demise. In that sense of matter many people come and see to try and prove to themselves the inevitability of ghosts. Many tours go about this area telling the stories of the tragic deaths, and others tell of ghostly beings still striving. However not all of these tours are accurate, there is no possible way to go over all of the deaths. Most tell about the very popular occurrences, just to get the idea through, an very few talk about many other long forgotten deaths. Even the executions mentioned here, aren’t even a start to what has happened in the dreadful prison. This tower is certainly a relic of time, and no replica to the public

The Reign of Terror was one of the most brutal events of the French Revolution, killing over 35,000 people, including two rulers. The Reign of Terror was an 18 month period where Maximillien Robespierre led the government to execute all who did not support the revolution. These enemies were located both inside and outside the country of France. Some documents support the Reign of Terror, but it can also be argued that it was unfair and unjustified. After reading several documents, I feel the government’s campaign to execute thousands of innocent citizens was not justified for multiple reasons.…

While it may appear to be a story about a plague and a prince’s response to it, it in fact holds a much deeper meaning and lesson. However, when Prince Prospero holds a party in his abbey, a masked stranger sneaks in, killing all of the people inside. Referred to in multiple pieces of literature, the Tower of Babel has become an allusion known by the majority of people – even those without a Biblical background. “The couplet, from the Scottish Renaissance poet Sir David Lyndsay, which Lewis quotes in the epigraph of That Hideous Strength, alludes to the tower: ‘The shadow of that hyddeous strength. Sax myle and more it is of length’” (Urrutia). Lewis then develops the allusion farther “as the human villains of the novel, like the builders of the tower, attempt to rival the power of God and in the end, suffer a like fate.”…
